fun 'n sun!
USRowing’s olympic Development program
Fun In The Sun
The ODP Experience is much more than just on water work! Our host location of Jacksonville, Florida is conveniently located near to the Atlantic Ocean. Jax has miles of beaches, vibrant neighborhoods, and sunny parks. While our athletes will be hard at work rowing, they will have opportunities for non-rowing activities.
Functional movement and functional movement training is a major part of the American Development Model (ADM). What better way to test functional movement than through intramural competitions!
Throughout the duration of camp athletes will compete in land competitions such as beach volleyball, ultimate frisbee, capture the flag, kickball, track and field, and other challenging events.
Our host locations both have expansive campuses with a wide variety of on-campus activities.
Stress is a natural part of competition. Providing opportunities to destress are necessary! Participants will have time to enjoy some R&R. They will have chances to enjoy the beach, go on nature hikes, movie nights with teammates, and more!
Jacksonville has more coastline than any other city in the country while also sitting close to some of Florida’s State Forests. Our two host locations have boarding students during the school year and are set up for student life and athlete down time.
Entertainment and Events
All participants will attend other fun events such as minor league baseball games and a trip to a theme park! All events or entertainment are covered as part of the camp tuition. The local minor league baseball team, the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, play downtown. When we decamp from Jacksonville and head to racing in Sarasota, we are planning to stop at one of America’s best theme parks – Universal Orlando. However, this depends on the Covid situation at the time, and may change by substituting another safe and suitable option in its place.
